Four years ago, I volunteered on Green Bird Ostrich Farm near Varna, Bulgaria through @wwoof. Those baby chicks were so fuzzy-fluffy, but my favorite thing was getting into the rhythm of farm life. Wake up, drink hot tea, walk up the hill to dozens of adolescent ostriches staring at you like it's mealtime, fill the troughs with grain and grass, get water splashed on you by an obstinate ostrich, then breathe. In the afternoon, repeat!
